The Canada-Germany Energy Partnership

The Canada-Germany Energy Partnership is a bilateral innitiative by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE)  – established in March 2021 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the German and the Canadian government. Its annual Steering Committee, which is co-chaired on Deputy Minister / State Secretary level, sets the strategic direction of the Energy Partnership, establishes its themes, and defines partnership activities (e.g. events, working group and task force meetings, studies, and delegation trips).

The Steering Committee met for the fourth time in September 2024 and endorsed the 2024/2025 Action Plan focusing on bilateral cooperation on Clean Energy and Technology, the advancement of the Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance, as well as joint efforts under the theme of Mineral Security for Energy Transition and Climate in bilateral and multilateral settings.
